In Excel, date formats are specified by the host operating system (e.g. Windows).
The Windows defaults do not correspond to Canadian/CRA/worldwide standards (ISO 8601). Short dates are recommended to be set as “yyyy-mm-dd”.
Control Panel > Region and Language > “Short date:”
